The KTH Royal Institute of Technology will host the international training course “Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Value Chain”, a comprehensive program designed for professionals involved in the rare earth magnet and motor industries.
This course is part of the ExpSkills-REM project (KAVA Reference: 21104) and is tailored for engineers, consultants, R&D professionals, technicians, and entrepreneurs aiming to innovate within this strategic industrial sector, which is vital for Europe’s green and digital transitions.
What to Expect
The course covers the entire rare earth permanent magnet (REPM) value chain through five core modules:
- Exploration and mining of rare earth elements.
- Production of permanent magnets, including advanced manufacturing techniques such as additive manufacturing.
- Design and application of magnet-based electrical machines.
- Recycling of rare earth magnets and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
- A technical visit to the Ytterby mine, a historical site in rare earth element discovery.
Training will be delivered in a blended format (on-site and online) by leading experts from top institutions across Europe and Japan, including:
